Church Teams
Christian Education - We attend to the teaching of the Word of God by planning, organizing, and delivering Christian education programs, securing and training teachers, together with the continuing oversight of both programs and teachers. This committee also oversees Vacation Bible School each summer.
Mission and Outreach - This committee leads the congregation to participation in the mission of the whole Church in the world. They study and implement various mission and outreach programs to best utilize the congregation's time, talent, and finances in a mission agenda encompassing a range of opportunities from local to national to global.
Children and Youth Ministries - Working with the staff, this committee provides programs for the children and youth of the church including Confirmation Classes, Children of Christ program (ages 4 - 2nd grade), Walk With Jesus Gang (3rd - 5th grades), Junior High (grades 6, 7, & 8) and Senior High (Grades 9 - 12).
Worship - This committee is responsible for providing for the worship of the people of God in keeping with principles in the Directory for Worship. It oversees the Sunday morning and special services, the music ministry, and preparation of the sacraments.
Fellowship - The Fellowship Committee plans and sponsors congregational events and activities that develop bonds of friendship and strengthen our church community. The activities include such things as, the Third Sunday Brunches, family night suppers, picnics, ice cream parties, the annual Fall Festival, bonfires, family camps, and many other types of fellowship.
Member Care - We are charged with the care and nurture of the members of the church and their families including monitoring worship attendance, encouraging involvement in the life of the church, ministering to members and praying for them in times of life changes and transitions.
New Member Development - This committee organizes efforts in reaching out to the un-churched and to visitors, making our church a warm and welcoming place for people to worship and to feel accepted. They follow up with visitors, provide information, monitor visitor attendance, and encourage their involvement in the life of the church
Property - The Property Committee leads the congregation to be good stewards of our real property, its maintenance and necessary repairs.
Communications - We are responsible for supporting all types of church communication including print, audio, video, computer-based communication and signage..
Personnel - This committee oversees the staffing of the church as needed for present and future growth.
Stewardship & Finance - This committee is responsible for maintaining and increasing the financial support for the operations and mission of First Presbyterian Church of Smyrna, by encouraging greater participation in stewardship. We develop, recommend and oversee the church budget, conduct the annual stewardship campaign and facilitate the annual audit of church accounts.
