LOGOS is an after-school ministry where adults, youth, and children learn to model Christ to each other in everything they do - where everyone is a child of God, and no one is treated as if they don't matter.
Our LOGOS ministry begins the 2nd Wednesday after Labor Day and runs until end of April, every Wednesday evening from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. For those students needing to come straight from school, there is a homework and snack time before LOGOS begins. The LOGOS ministry runs in accordance with the Rutherford County School System Calendar for holidays and weather related closures.
The 4 Parts of the LOGOS Ministry
Bible Study
The goal of Bible study is to nurture youth and children into intelligent,
obedient, and biblically-informed discipleship. In grade level groups, each
class uses a curriculum that is appropriate for their age group.
Recreation
The goal of Recreation/Play Time is to experience great fun at the expense
of no one else. Young people participate in active play, do crafts, or
experience the sharing of a hobby or special interest by a member of the
congregation. When we reveal ourselves in play, we strengthen friendships
and when conflicts occur, we practice our theology.
Family Time
The goal of Family Time is to provide a joyous, intergenerational
celebration of personhood over a shared meal as we experience being the
family of God. Young people are assigned to tables along with one or two
adults who act as "table parents." The group around the table becomes a
family as they share meals together during the year. Food is served family
style. Conversation is purposeful. Birthdays are celebrated.
Worship Skills
The goal of Worship Skills is to develop responsibility for and practice in
worship skills because worship is our primary service to God as disciples.
Worship is essential and central to the Christian community. In Worship
Skills young people learn about worship and prepare to lead in the Sunday
morning service of worship. Often this is done through a singing choir.
Other times bell choir, speaking choir or drama is included.
